Description:
Molded or engine-turned lines that are incised onto a vessel body. Basketwork is a general term used to capture all variation in this element type. For example, these finely turned lines might be executed in different widths, directions and over a molded or fluted body. Any combination of these lines should be cataloged as Basketwork. Seen most often on Black Basalt and Rosso Antico. Molded versions on later wares.
