Scallop Band 1 is characterized by a continuous band of elongated half-circles enclosed between two plain bands. Directly outside the enclosed band and underneath each rounded portion of the half-circle, sit two separate dots painted one on top of the other (in a vertical formation). This band is most often seen on overglazed Chinese porcelain.
The genre for this stylistic element depends on a combination of decorative technique, color, and element.
